Cholestasis caused by Fasciola gigantica.
Fascioliasis is an infectious disease caused by the hepatic trematodes Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica. Here, we report the case of Fasciola gigantica presenting with biliary obstruction and abdominal pain that was diagnosed and treated by endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERCP). A 46-year-old woman presented with right upper quadrant abdominal pain and jaundice. Physical examinat...
متن کاملDetermination of somatic and excretory-secretory antigens of Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica using SDS-PAGE
Human fascioliasis due to unknown species and animal fascioliasis caused by both or one of Fasciola spp. are commonly seen in Iran. To compare electrophoretic patterns of somatic and excretory-secretory antigens of F. hepatica and F. gigantica by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), the adult flukes were collected from infected slaughtered bovine livers. E/S a...
متن کاملBile Duct Hyperplasia and Associated Abnormalities in the Buffaloes Infected With Fasciola gigantica
Liver samples of buffaloes infected with Fasciole gigantica were collected from the main abattoir of Hyderabad City. Histological studies of infected livers revealed severe damage resulting in disrupted hepatic cords, inflammation, atrophy and necrosis. Bile duct hyperplasia was prominent with proliferation of epithelial cells.
متن کاملDetection of Coproantigens by Sandwich ELISA in Rabbits Experimentally Infected with Fasciola gigantica
BACKGROUND The study was targeted to report the appearance of coproantigens in feces and circulating antibodies in the serum of Fasciola gigantica experimentally infected rabbits. METHODS Copro Hyper Immune Serum (HIS) and Excretory-Secretory Hyper Immune Serum (ES HIS) antigens were used in a sandwich ELISA for the detection of F. gigantica antigens in feces of 12 rabbits experimentally infe...
متن کاملDetection of coproantigens by sandwich ELISA in sheep experimentally infected with Fasciola gigantica.
Two monoclonal antibodies to Fasciola gigantica excretory/secretory (ES) antigens were used in a sandwich ELISA for the detection of Fasciola antigens in faeces of 9 sheep experimentally infected with 300 metacercariae of F. gigantica. The detection of coproantigens was found in four of the seven sheep within 5 weeks of infection, and within 7 weeks of infection coproantigens were detected in a...
